A Chilean who has spent his legal career between his native Chile and the United States, Esteban’s practice focuses on international corporate and securities law, including equity and debt offerings, mergers and acquisitions, lending, joint ventures, licensing, and foreign investments.
A breadth of experience advising clients in the United States and Chile forged Esteban’s unique approach to corporate regulatory matters, corporate restructurings, and the negotiation and structuring of franchises and licenses.
After commencing his legal career in Washington, DC with DLA Piper, Esteban returned to Chile to found Awad & Elias Abogados, where he counseled Latin American venture-backed startups through crucial stages in their lifecycles, including negotiating and closing venture capital financing rounds, and guiding them in their expansion into the U.S. market. Esteban is comfortable on both sides of the aisle, having advised several prominent Chilean venture capital funds in connection with their investments in portfolio companies as part of their expansion to the international stage.
Esteban is admitted to practice in Chile, New York, the District of Columbia, Florida and California. He is an active member of the Constitutional Committee of the International Tennis Federation.
